White Fillings at Praxis Dental

Pacific Pines Restorative Dentistry

Little girl kissing mom on cheekWhen your tooth develops a cavity, there’s no way for the hole to repair itself on its own. Leaving the cavity untreated will allow the bacterial infection to spread deeper into the tooth, involving a larger area that becomes more challenging to repair.

To stop decay and prevent it from expanding, we recommend minimally invasive white fillings. Composite restorations such as these are able to bond directly to your tooth structure, rather than have to be wedged into place like a silver filling. As such, they’re healthier for your tooth.

Additionally, we can select the exact colour and shade of white filling material, so that it blends in with the overall look of your smile.

Do You Need a Filling?

You may have cavity if you’ve experienced symptoms like:

  • Sensitivity to particular types of foods and beverages (sweet, crunchy, etc.)
  • Roughness that can be felt with your tongue
  • Discoloration or staining on a tooth
  • Pain when biting and chewing
  • Food or floss catching between teeth

However, not all cavities hurt. You may not have any symptoms whatsoever. That’s why we screen for early signs of tooth decay during every check and clean. The earlier we diagnose a cavity, the less invasive the treatment is.

In some cases, early demineralisation can be reversed before a physical cavity forms within your tooth enamel.

Quality Family Dentistry

We offer comprehensive dental fillings and restorative services to patients of all ages – including children – in one convenient location. If you suspect that you or your child has a cavity, we encourage you to schedule an exam before the decay has a chance to spread deeper and requires a root canal or crown to repair.

New patients are always welcome. We’re open Saturdays, so contact us today to book your next appointment.
